Learning Music at the Holland
There's a lot to music that students don't appreciate. Music is both a natural enjoyment and an intellectual activity. To really appreciate music, familiarity with performing and composing music are essential. Music then becomes an event that one participates in actively instead of passively, even as a spectator.
This requires effort on the student's part. Too many students approach the music class as a time essentially for entertainment and not as an educational situation similar to their other studies.
